Significance
On Jyeshtha Purnima, the deities of the Jagannath Temple in Puri are brought out and bathed with 108 pots of water. After this, the deities fall "ill" for 15 days (Anasara) and then emerge for the Rath Yatra. The first major event of the Puri festival season.
