The first day of the Assamese month Bohag — Assam's spring New Year. A 7-day festival of joy: cattle blessed and bathed (Goru Bihu) on day 1, family New Year on day 2, then five days of community celebration with Bihu dance, husori (door-to-door blessings), and pithas (rice cakes).
